College Point was a magical town as it was my youth, although I didn’t appreciate the magic at the time. I could play all day in the neighborhood park with no fear of gun violence, knowing I had a house to come home to at the end of the day, and no concern of climate change or political and environmental collapse. Back then, freedom to me was staying awake all night just to watch the television broadcasting day sign off, with the Star Spangled Banner playing over the American flag.
