The Lonely Island (1982)

Alone in the great blue ocean lives an Island. It is sad because it thinks it’s alone. Suddenly, it hears the sound of bugs, birds, and other creatures. Listen, just listen. Then, the sound of a family with a little boy finds the island. The boy wonders about the island, asking many questions. How does the seaweed make little fences around the shore? Why doesn’t the island float away. Finally the island realizes that it’s not alone. It is part of the great Earth. The Lonely Island, a 3-movement ballet, was the first full-length electronic music album produced in my studio in California. It utilize both analog and digital synthesis. The digital synthesizer was a Mountain Music System with an 8-bit stereo card in an Apple II computer with a Sound Chaser keyboard.
